“I am not a fan of artificial heat at high temperatures nor do I like to teach with music. Music is effective and often used to manipulate mood in class; my caution to teachers and students is that music can easily become a permanent crutch. Artificial heat is misleading and gives the illusion that one is working as one should be. As a teacher, with heat turned up, I’d lose the opportunity to teach students about turning on the inner furnace organically. Physiologically speaking, in heated yoga, muscles lose the responsiveness to contract and release at will and the heart is taxed. I can go on and on…”  ~ Yiwen
